Let’s keep our feet on the ground – Mutasa

Dynamos head coach, Lloyd Mutasa, has urged his troops to keep focused ahead of their reverse premier league clash against Zvishavane based giants FC Platinum.

Dynamos lost 1-0 at home in their first match of the 2017 season back in April when they played the 2016 Castle Lager Premier League runners up and the two giants face off in the reverse fixture in a mid-week clash at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane tomorrow afternoon.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Mandava this morning, Mutasa, who has returned from Warriors duty at African Nations Championships (CHAN) 2018 Qualifiers where he was assistant coach to Warriors head coach, Sunday Chidzambwa, said Dynamos will be looking to grab a vital result in Zvishavane.

“I think the message has been and still is [that] let’s keep our feet on the ground, let’s keep focused and let’s keep working hard so that probably we continue the good run.

“. . . it’s a big game but we knew it’s going to come at one time and I’m sure we are ready for the battle and every coach would want to start the second half [of the season] on a bank and we expect such,” he told Soccer24.

Fourth placed Dynamos have registered 30 points from a potential 45 having won nine matches, drawn three and lost three. They are one point behind log leaders Black Rhinos with two games in hand.

The former FC Platinum coach said beating the Norman Mapeza led side would augur well with Dynamos’ desire to be consistent and the ‘Glamour Boys’ are not getting carried away by their recent form which saw them embark on a six match winning streak before registering a draw against Chicken Inn at Barboufields Stadium a fortnight ago.

“I think I still maintain what I said earlier on in the season that our priority for now is to try and do better than we did last year and we remain as such until another time.

“It (beating FC Platinum) would mean a fine run, it would mean consistency on our part, because FC Platinum is just as good as any other team in the premier league and probably we as Dynamos, what we are looking for is consistency,” he added.

The Harare side head into the clash without fullback and captain, Ocean Mushure, who raptured his knee while away in Windhoek, Namibia on Warriors duty during the CHAN Qualifiers, and his absence will be a blow for Dynamos, who are looking to avoid back-to-back defeats against the platinum miners.

Striker, Quality Kangadzi, will also be absent with an injury he sustained several weeks ago, while centre-back, Marshal Machazane, is out with stomach pains.

“Obviously Ocean [Mushure] is a big player, hence he is the captain, we really miss him. But all the same, we . . . registered a number of players in case of such scenarios. We hope the youngsters who will fill the void will do so well, they are always knocking and chances come in different ways.

“I think now the youngsters are recovering, [but] we still have Quality [Kangadze] who is still recovering from his injury. We [also] have Marshy [Machazane] who has stomach pains, otherwise the rest are up and about,” he said.
