‘It’s a point gained’ – Chiragwi

Shabanie Mine head coach, Takesure Chiragwi, has expressed joy after the miners held reigning Castle Lager Premier League champions CAPS United to a goalless draw away at the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Ninth placed Shabanie Mine recorded their seventh premier league draw against United coming from a 1-0 win and 2-0 win over How Mine and Yadah FC respectively.

Speaking in the wake of their draw, Chiragwi said despite their quest for consistency, they are pleased to have squeezed a point away.

“Yah, I think it’s a point gained and that point is very important to the club. As much as we want to be consistent, I think as a club we are very happy, this is the third game in a row [that] we didn’t concede, we got seven points and I think we are very happy with that. Especially that [the] team has changed, some of the senior players were not there and I’m happy with the youngsters, they come in and they are brave enough to this give us a result against a very good club which is very organised,” he told journalists after the match.

“It’s good for the team and it’s good for the youngsters, they have got confidence and they did very well and I’m very happy with this result and it’s a bonus for us.”

The miners have registered 22 points from five wins, seven draws and six losses and are seven places above CAPS United, who have six games in hand.

He also expressed happiness that the miners, who have conceded 14 goals in 18 matches with a goal difference of minus one, have managed to keep a clean sheet in their last three matches.

“Like I always said, football is like [a] marathon and it’s practical, when you make mistakes, you keep on going back to the drawing board, you work on your mistakes, that’s how you improve as a team.

“So I’m very happy, especially getting results second round of the games, they are getting confidence. We are correcting those mistakes and it’s good for us. Like I said we are no longer conceding goals, which is very important for us to get better results,” he said.
