We raise our heads to correct the errors – Chitembwe

CAPS United head coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, has encouraged his troops to raise their heads as they seek to correct several mistakes in their performances after their 3-2 defeat at the hands of Harare City at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.

CAPS United were trailing after a 19th minute Malvin Gaki strike before John Zhuwawu responded with an equalizer 17 minutes into the second half. Substitute striker, Dominic Chungwa, made it 2-1 for the defending premier league champions on the 75th minute.

The match seemed set to end with a victory for Makepekepe before fullback, Valentine Musarurwa, scored an own goal eight minutes before full time to make it 2-2. Harare City winger, Jerry Chipangura, made it 3-2 in second half extra time to deny The Green Machine a point away.

Speaking in the wake of the defeat, Chitembwe said they were disappointed that the team had not got the result they had expected but will focus on correcting the grey areas of their performances.

“I also feel the result was not as we expected. We expected a much, much better result than we got today. And I know the players are very, very disappointed and the fans are equally disappointed and I’m equally disappointed but at the end of the day we just have to raise our heads up and wait for another opportunity to correct what we witnessed today,” he told journalists after the match.

CAPS United have gathered 14 points from 12 matches and have seven games in hand while Harare City are on 11th position with 21 points after 19 matches. United, however, won 2-1 in their first leg against Harare City back in April but could not replicate their form in the reverse fixture extending their premier league winless run to four matches.

“Yah, I thought the second half was good, the first half wasn’t as good as the second. There were a lot of technical mistakes in the first half. Our ball retention was not as good as it should have been and I thought emotionally we were not much in the game,” he added.
