We’ll keep our momentum – Mutasa

Dynamos head coach, Lloyd Mutasa, has said that the “Glamour Boys’ will not underrate Hwange Colliery and will look to build on the momentum when they clash at the National Sports Stadium this evening.

Third place Dynamos have enjoyed a good run of games which has seen them register eight wins in the last 10 games. They have managed 36 points from 18 matches, despite a slow start to the 2017 premier league season and have two games in hand.

Speaking ahead of the mid-evening premier league clash, the former FC Platinum coach said Dynamos are not taking chances when they meet a ‘stubborn’ Hwange side.

“We have always said that every time Dynamos plays a team no matter what position, they always give it their best shot, so we are expecting a tough encounter tomorrow (today), at the same time we are going to try as much as we can to be consistent. We can only be consistent by getting a result against a stubborn Hwange side.

“The message is the same, let’s keep our feet on the ground, and let’s treat Hwange like other teams like the so called Highlanders and company. We can only underrate them at our own peril. Let’s keep the momentum up and we work hard and we fight hard and results will come our way,” Mutasa told Soccer24.

Hwange Colliery have 20 points from 19 outings, 16 points behind Dynamos and 20 points behind log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Mutasa said Dembare will not take it lightly against the Colliery despite the troubled side having managed only three premier league wins in 11 matches.

“We are playing a Hwange side that has collected six points from [the last] nine, that has scored seven goals. So that means we are playing a team that is doing well, we expect a tough encounter as well.

Dynamos will miss the services of Cameroonian striker, Christian Ntouba Epoupa, who is out with a groin injury. Epoupa has been instrumental for the ‘Glamour Boys’ scoring several vital goals and registering assists as Dembare steered clear of a poor start to the 2017 premiership season.

The length of Epoupa’s absence, who was injured during their 1-0 win over Black Rhinos at Rufaro last week, is still not clear with the club awaiting medical reports from the team doctors.

“He’s an integral part of the team, he has done well the games that he has played. But we already budgeted for that, you know, we always knew from the onset that one way or the other we might not have our influential players.

“Last week we didn’t have Denver Mukamba, the previous week we didn’t have the likes of Quality Kangadzi, Musa Madhiri and company, whom we think are all important members of the team but results have been coming [nevertheless].

“So we are saying those who are gonna slip into those shoes must rise up, they must work for the team make it have a consistent result,” said Mutasa.

Meanwhile, former Trojan Stars striker, Quality Kangadzi, is back to full training after having been absent for the ‘Glamour Boys’ through injury for close to two months. It remains to be seen if he can make the bench against Hwange this evening. Forward, Denver Mukamba, is also back after missing their last macth with an illness.

“He’s (Kangadzi) now back in full training, I think he started full training with others on Friday. Denver is up and about and he’s part of the team that is able to do duty tomorrow,” said Mutasa.
