CLPSL Preview: Matchday 22

The Castle Larger Premier League action continues with three games lined up on Saturday afternoon in the matchday 22.

The main show is in Harare when title chasers Black Rhinos and Chicken Inn clash at Rufaro at 3pm. This promises to be a potentially explosive encounter as both teams has shown ability to deliver. Though they started the season in full force, Chauya Chipembere has of late found themselves in series of misfortunes. The army side at one point occupied the top position but now they are positioned 8th on league table.

Rhinos has posted a disgracing four losses in their last four games. To add to their woes they will miss the services of stalky defender Sydney Linyama who is out with suspension.

Collecting maximum points will be vital against a team which they have only beaten once in their head to head clashes and that win came during the first leg of the campaign.

On the other side their opponents Chicken are unbeaten in their six games. They have won four times while they drew twice. They are second on the log and a point behind log leaders Ngezi.

A win will put them on top.

Before the 3pm clash, Yadah and Chapungu will warm up the pitch when they in the first of the double header. Yadah has been trying to rediscover their form which the were in when the season started.

The PHD Ministries owned team has only managed one win in their last five games. They are only one place above the relegation zone. Their opponents Chapungu are sitting on 11th position. The match could swing in either way as their last and only meeting ended in deadlock.

Elsewhere, down south, the battle of the two cities will put Bulawayo to a standstill. Rivals Bulawayo City and Harare City clash at Barbourfields stadium. With just a point sepperating the teams it will be a battle of “who goes top and who goes down”. It is the Sunshine Boys who are oozing with confidence after they collected seven points from their last 3 games. They will retain their best players ahead of the game which include Tendai Samanja, James Jam,Martin Vengesai and Malvin Gaki. Takudzwa Chimwemwe will not be available due to suspension.

For Bulawayo City they will need to rub off the memories of the 3-1 defeat at Mandava and pray for consistance. They will miss two key members of their squad in injured Nyasha Mukumbi and the suspended Ransome Pavari, but will be pinning their hopes on mid-season acquisition Ishmael Wadi and their leading scorer Mkhululi Moyo.
