Ndiraya plays down title aspirations

Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Tonderai Ndiraya has played down tittle aspirations and named Harare giants as fovourites to win the league.

Ndiraya has refused to get carried away with his team’s impressive run. The Mhondoro based outfit is on apex of the log with 43 points. The have posted a winning streak of four matches. The platinum miners has scored 14 times in the last four games making an average of 3.5 goals per match. Their latest 4-1 scalp over Yadah FC has grown attention to how lethal they are.

But Ndirayi believes it just a piece of their delight and they will not be thnking of winning the title at least for now.

“We are on top of the log, and that is the reality. But that can change anytime. There are lot of games still to play”, he said.

“We can’t start to count the chicks before they are hatched. That we have been on top for the better part of the season, makes us a very good and strong team. It shows that we can compete with the big boys. Our performance so far has given us, the supporters and the whole system which supports us some hope. We hope to turn that into something tangible”.

The gaffer went on to annoint his former team Dynamos as favourites to win the title.

“We are on top, but definitely not favourites. Looking at the log standings, I think Dynamos are the favourites to win it. They have always been. They are in a strong position, because they have games in hand and if they can win them, then they go top of the log. They have the experience; they know what to do and once they get to the top, it would be very difficult for all the other teams to remove them. But it’s still a long way to go; a team that is going to be consistent will win it”, Ndiraya reiterated.

However judging with their form and consistence his words are only to wear off pressure and align themselves to focus ahead of potential explosive encounter against rejuvenated CAPS United
