UCL Tuesday Roundup

Sevilla vs Istanbul Basaksehir (2-2)

Former UEFA Europa champions Sevilla booked their place in the group stages of the Champions League with a 4-3 aggregate over Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday night.

The Spanish side survived a major scare in their 2-2 draw home draw. The visitors played to their best but it was not on their side.

Goals from Sergio Escudero and Wissam Ben Yedder looked to have secured Sevilla’s progress past their Turkish opponents but Eljero Elia’s first half strike and Edin Visca’s effort 83rd minute left things leveled after fulltime.

Nice vs Napoli (0-2)

The Italian side cruised to the group stages with an easy 2-0 away win in Nice bringing the aggregate scoreline to 4-0.

Second half goals from Jose Callejon and Lorenzo Insigne ensured the Serie A team book their place.

Rijeka vs Olympiakos (0-1)

The Greek side sealed a comfortable 1-0 win over Rijeka.

The goal came from former Chelsea midfielder Marko Marin.

Maribor vs Hapoel Be’er Sheva (1-0)

The Slovian side Maribor sealed a place in the group stages when they drew Hapoel Be’er Sheva 2-2 on aggregate but qualified on away goal rule. The second leg finished 1-0 in favour of Maribor. The goal came in the 15th minute through Mitja Viler.

Astan Vs Celtic (4-3)

The Scottish giants completed an 8-4 aggregate win to reach the Champions League group stage despite a 4-3 loss in Astana.

The hosts went in to the lead when Dimitri Shomko’s shot was deflected to the back of the net.

Scott Sinclair equalised moments later but Astana’s Serikzhan Muzhikov and Patrick Twumasi (brace) put the hosts 4-1 up with 20 minutes still to play.

The visitors made the tie safe when Olivier Ntcham and Leigh Griffiths scored minutes before the last whistle
