Chapungu coach wants to cut short CAPS’ fairytale

Chapungu FC has fired warning shots ahead of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie against resurgence CAPS United on Saturday.

Makepekepe has gone for a five match unbeaten run and the Gweru based outfit coach Tendai Chikuni want to spoil the party and cut short their fairytale.

In an interview with the Herald, the gaffer said he will field a strong which will aim for pride and beat the champions.

“The fact that we are playing the champions is self-motivational. The guys are ready and I hope they will rise to another level. The better team on the day is likely to win,” he said.

“This is one of those games when we need to be at our best. We are playing the defending champions and CAPS United are doing well. But we have a name to protect so we are aiming to give it our best shot.”

Chikuni also rubbished the ‘small team” tag when the league is at  this point of the season.

“Remember there are neither big nor small teams in the second half of the season. I am sure our fans will be solidly behind us as they have always been doing in these difficult times,” said Chikuni.

Chapungu has only managed a point in their last three outings. Their inconsistence will be under a spot light when they face a rejuvenated CAPS United at Ascot on Saturday afternoon.
