I am still loyal to the club: Akbay

Under fire Highlanders coach Erol Akbay has reassured fans of his commitment to the club.

This follows a series of poor results that sees the club lose three consecutive matches and ultimately surrender any hope for league glory.

Highlanders lost 2 nil against ZPC Kariba before their shock 1 nil loss to Tsholotsho and yesterday got a hiding going down 3 nil to league title chasers Ngezi Platinum.

Ironically all the losses come after the coach opened up about leaving the club at the expiry of his contract at the end of the year which has left many Highlanders fans questioning his commitment to the club.

However in his post match interview with the Sundaynews, Akbay reassured his commitment saying it was only upfront that the team is failing to utilize creted chances.

“I am still loyal to the club. We were playing some good football but the strikers failed us. Our target is not about a position but we are now focusing on winning our games, I will do my best until my contract ends on December 31.” said Akbay.

A brace from Tichaona Mabvura and another goal from Terrence Dzukamanja dismantled a Highlanders outfit that has been in a shambles ever since coach Erol Akbay announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season.
