Chiyangwa Calls For Valuation Of Local Football

Philip Chiyangwa says he intends to set up a department within the Zimbabwe Football Association that will be responsible for coming up with value for players and clubs.

The Zifa president said local football is not valuable at the moment because there is no value attached to the players no the clubs that they play for.

He said this needs urgent redress as players are not getting any financial benefits upon retirement because they are not valued.

” The world has been shaken by the money paid for Paul Pogba and now Neymar. It is because these players have value put on them. Look at Mutuma (Rodrick) he left Highlanders because money problems. In fact both Highlanders and Dynamos have no value, if anybody comes with $400 000 he can buy them, said Chiyangwa.

” Look at Zamalek, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns they have value. When Willard Katsande left Zimbabwe he had no value but now he is a big name in South Africa. I walked with him in Sandton and people were mobbing him on the streets. Gibson Homela uyu anembiri yakaipa mubhora but haana kana cent,” he said.

The Harare businessman who is also the Cosafa president implored on those in grassroots football to start adding value on their players so that they don’t become victims of poaching by bigger clubs.
