Troubled Akbay wanted Tarumbwa

Highlanders chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube revealed yesterday that soon after the departure of strikers Roderick Mutuma and Prince Dube during the midseason transfer window, their head coach Erol Akbay was dying to have them signer veteran forward Chicken Inn forward Obadiah Tarumbwa.

Tarumbwa (32) is a former Bosso player who joined Chicken Inn last season on a permanent basis./

“He wanted us to sign Obadiah Tarumbwa but we could not as the player is contracted with Chicken Inn. However, we still believe we have good seven strikers despite the departure of Mutuma and Prince. I think people should now stop hiding behind a finger because we now need results,” said a fuming Dube at a club’s presser that was held on Wednesday.

At the press conference Bosso announced that Amini Soma Phiri who was their assistant coach had resigned.

“He has stepped aside. He thought it was prudent to let our head coach who accused him of sabotage, to fully take charge of the team alone. As such a development coach Melusi Sibanda will now join the senior team’s technical bench. Akbay had said he was prepared to work with Cosmas Zulu but there was nowhere we could allow that since Zulu was demoted owing to some disciplinary reasons,” said Dube.
