Katsande in Milestone delight

Willard Katsande marked his 200th appearance for Kaizer Chiefs in a 2-0 triumph away to Cape Town City last night.

Katsande joined Chiefs in 2011 from Ajax Cape Town where he was a fringe player.

The former Warriors captain waited until 2014 to score his first goal for the Soweto giants and went on to find the the target 14 times in his stay at Naturena has spanned seven years.

” Obviously I am happy with my progress because if I look back I can’t believe that I have managed to achieve this. I want to give credit to my teammates, the coaches, management and the fans for their tremendous support,” said Katsande.

” I would want to continue playing more games for Kaizer Chiefs but I don’t want to put myself under pressure,”.

Katsande is the third player in the current Chiefs squad to reach a 200 game milestone after goalkeeper Ithumeleng Khune and midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala. The Mutare bred midfielder who played for Highway and Gunners locally had 191 starts for Kaizer Chiefs and came from the bench nine times.

Other Zimbabweans to achieve such a feat in South Africa are Wilfred Mugeyi, Esrom Nyandoro and Tinashe Nengomasha.
