Dynamos determined to maintain top spot

Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa is hoping to keep a stranglehold on the Castle Lager Premier League top spot after leaping to the summit on Thursday.

The Harare giants thumped airmen Chapungu 4-0 in a match played at Ascot Stadium. Well, though all goals were scored over 3 months ago.

The resumed match that had to be played from the 56th minute could not produce any goals. A PSL verdict ordered both teams to field the same set of players they used on June 18, Chapungu could manage to field 10 players in a match Dynamos were leading by 4 goals to nil after goalpost fell during the match in June.

It was forever an uphill task but Chapungu did apply themselves and could have scored at least a goal but Dynamos managed to see off the match to claim the 3 points that took them top of the log.

Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa speaking to the Herald said the team has a challenge to mantain pole position and they will do anything possible to remain there.

‘’We have always wished to feel how it is at the top and now that we are there the intention is to make sure that we stay there,’’ said Mutasa

‘’Motivating the boys for this 34 minute game was a challenge because we came here leading 4-0 and you could see the complacency they went about business with.

‘’We gave Chapungu some chances and our goalie (Tonderai Mateyaunga) had to make some good saves.

‘’The good thing is we have safely negotiated this passage and now look forward to the next challenge against Bulawayo City in the Chibuku Super Cup,’’ he added.

Dynamos have now opened a one-point gap at the top of the table with nine matches remaining.
