Sunday Preview: Chibuku Super Cup First Round

Reigning Chibuku Super Cup champions Ngezi Platinum Stars will begin their quest to defend their title today when they clash with CAPS United at Boabab Stadium this afternoon.

Ngezi who are boasting of home advantage will be hoping to achieve their first win over Makepekepe. Their latest meeting is a league match played in August and it ended in a 3-0 win to CAPS United.

There are no changes to the Green Machine’s squad that faced Hwange on Thursday.

In Harare, Dynamos will be looking to progress to the second round when they play Bulawayo City at Rufaro Stadium.

Statistically, the Glomour Boys have an upper hand as they are yet to lose to Amakhosi. Their recent form in league is a boost ahead of this encounter. With their seven match unbeaten run cut during the Harare Derby last weekend, they are ready to open a new chapter.

However, what will bring smile in the Dynamos camp is the return of defender Lincoln Zvasiya and midfielder Tichaona Chipunza who missed their last outing due to suspension. It still remains unknown if Dembare will include Christian Ntouba in their line after the PSL waved a green light for his inclusion.

Ntouba is currently serving a ban after he received a red card in matchday 25.

Meanwhile in Zvishavane, Highlanders will clash with Harare City at Mandava Stadium.

On paper, the game could swing either way as both teams hold equal chances of qualifying to the next round.

Elsewhere, How Mine will date preliminary round winners Bantu Rovers at Ascot Stadium while ZPC Kariba will entertain Shabanie Mine at Nyamhunga Stadium.
