Grassroots football development vital: Sibanda

Mighty Warriors coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda has highlighted the need to nurture local talent from grassroots level in order to develop football in the country.

The National Women’s Team finished as runners up at the recently ended COSAFA Women Championship after losing to South Africa 2-1 in the final.

In an interview with Herald Sibanda said the country need to take lessons from South Africa who have a vibrant football development in their country.

“We have got quality but it’s about development. South Africa has got better development than us. Ours we have got talent but we are not really starting from grassroots. So, that’s what makes the different from us,” she said.

“We just need to invest in nurturing our talent because we have got the players really so it’s shown by those individual awards.”
