Barcelona considers prospect of club’s future outside Spain

Barcelona president Maria Bartomeu said on Monday the club will have to decide which football league they will join if Catalonia  get independence from Spain

Clashes between the police and protesters turned violent on Sunday forcing the game between Barca and Las Palmas be played in an empty stadium.

According to reports, Bartomeu admitted the club is facing tough time due to the unrest in Spain.

“In the case of independence, the club and the members would have to decide in which league we would play,” he said.

“We are going through difficult and complicated moments and with respect to what could happen in the future we will take it on with calm and wisdom.”

Over 800 people were reportedly injured in the clashes after people from the region protested to participate in the controversial vote on secession, which the Spanish government had ruled illegal.
