Five Picks From Chibuku Super Cup Quarter Final Round

Chibuku Super Cup quarter finals were held over the weekend and Soccer24 looks at five headlining moments happened during the last eight round.

Shabanie – CAPS game abandoned
The game between Shabanie Mine and CAPS United was abandoned in the 65th minute after far side assistant referee Thomas Kusosa was hit and got injured by a missile thrown from a bay housing Makepekepe fans. This became the second match to be abandoned in this year’s edition of the tournament.

Kusosa in spotlight again
PSL assistant referee Thomas Kusosa was again under spotlight after CAPS United fans got angry by his decision to flag CAPS’ goal for an off side in the 64th minute causing the game to be abandoned. In May, a game between Highlanders and Dynamos was called after fans protested that Kusosa should be changed to another side of the pitch.

Yadah crushes out
Yadah were knocked out of the tournament after losing 1-0 to Bulawayo City. This was their first loss in five matches  in all competitions. They were the only team left in the tournament who played in the preliminary round.

How Mine finally get it right
How Mine got its first ever victory over Chapungu at Ascot stadium. Chikurupati had struggled to win at the venue whilst playing Chapungu. They won 2-1 on Saturday.

Harare City cruising to glory
Harare City are on their way to become the most successful team in the Chibuku Super Cup. They beat Black Rhinos 1-0 to progress to the semi finals. If they manage to get in to the finals they surpass FC Platinum as the best team in the cup.
