Norway FA agrees to pay male and female footballers equally

Norway Football Association has agreed to a deal that will see both male and female international footballers receiving same financial compensation for representing the country.

The Norwegian FA announced that it will double the remuneration for the women, from $380,000 to a total of $750 000. Norway’s equality deal comes at a time when the disparity between the money and conditions of male and female players is a topical issue.

Back home in Zimbabwe, its not a secrete that the female national team has been treated as second class despite them being the most successful national football team in the country. In 2016, the Mighty Warriors reportedly received $5 allowances for playing at the Rio Olympics.
