2018 World Cup Qualifiers Round-up

Serbia and Iceland sealed their places at the 2018 FIFA World Cup after snatching victories on Monday night in the last round of European qualifiers.

Serbia beat Georgia  1-0 after Aleksandar Prijović scored in the 74th minute . They finished top in Group D. Iceland became the smallest country ever to qualify for the world cup  after they beat Kosovo 2-0. Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson opened the scoring in the first half before Johann Gudmundsson wrapped up the emotional victory in the second period.

Croatia emerged 2-0 winners over Ukraine to book their place in the play offs. They finished second in their group behind Iceland. Ireland also snatched a play-off spot by edging their rivals Wales 1-0.

Italy had to beat Albania 1-0 to head for play-offs after finishing second to Spain who rounded up their qualifiers with a 1-0 win over Israel.
