Chelsea to send football scouts to Zim

English Premier League side Chelsea will next year send scouts to Zimbabwe under a partnership deal with Shield deodorant.

According to the Sunday Mail, Shield brand manager for Southern Africa Chengetai Mujakachi revealed that at least one player is guaranteed a life time opportunity to trial at the London giants.

“There is definitely a chance for Zimbabwe to send more than one player to Chelsea and it’s up to the local players to prove their worth when the scouts visit next year,” said the brand manager.

“The fact that someone plays for Dynamos or Highlanders is not a hindrance, we will be working with established clubs. Currently, there are some in-house discussions and once finalised relevant parties will be informed.”

Mujakacha also said that the visit by the Chelsea scouts to the country was not a one-off thing  and it was a three year program.

Zimbabwe is part of the seven African countries that will benefit from the initiative. The other countries are South Africa, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Zambia and Nigeria.
