We are still in the mix: Mapeza

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza believes his team can win the title after they beat Highlanders 2-1 away at Barbourfields on Sunday.

The Zvishavane side moved to within a point from log leaders  Dynamos with 56 points but remained third on the table separated by goal difference from second placed Ngezi Platinum.

In a post match interview, Mapeza said they were still in the title chase and all they needed was to beat their hosts to maintain momentum with Dynamos.

“We are still in the championship mix. The most important thing was for us to win this encounter and ensure that we’re not far from Dynamos,” he said.

“There are six games to go, so we have to keep pushing. It’s about perseverance. We just have to keep believing and it might happen.”

Meanwhile the coach also heaped praises on Mkhokeli Dube who scored the the equalizer in the first half. This was Dube’s first goal since joining FC Platinum in July.

Pure Platinum Play will face Shabanie Mine at home in their next game before they travel to the capital to face Harare City in the following round. They play Ngezi, another team in title contention in match day 33.
