Shabanie/Caps United to learn fate of their abandoned Chibuku match today

The Green machine will learn their fate after the PSL referred the matter of the abandoned Chibuku Super Cup match between Caps United and Shabanie Mine to an Ad Hoc Committee that will make a ruling before end of the day.

The match was abandoned in the 65th minute after assistant referee Thomas Kusosa raised his flag to cancel a Caps equalising goal which was scored by Nyamupfukudza. The offside offence occured in the buildup to that goal when an already offside Zhuwawo crossed a pass to Nyamupfukudza who then scored. Caps United fans rained missiles into the pitch and attacked the lineman ontop of his eye and he rushed to the dressing rooms to get medical attention as he was bleeding. Shabanie Mine were leading 1-0 at the time.

With the semi finals already been set for this weekend it is highly unlikely that a replay will be summoned. This becomes the second match to be decided in boardroom after abandonment following the quarterfinal duel between Chicken Inn with the latter protesting against the referee’s decision for more than thirty minutes forcing the abandonment of the match. The adhoc committe decided to award the match to Yadah.

The PSL confirmed the development via a press release this afternoon which read:

“The abandoned Chibuku Super Cup Quarter Final match between Caps United FC and Shabanie Mine FC which will be heard by the PSL Ad hoc Committee tomorrow at 1800hrs. The ruling will be announced thereafter.”
