Zim players clash in ABSA Premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Khama Billiat and Kaizer Chiefs’ Willard Katsande are set to face-off this evening when their teams clash in the ABSA Premiership at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Both players will be hoping to make an impact in the encounter with Billiat bursting with confidence after he scored his first goal of the season during the previous round of the league. On the other hand, Katsande did not play in the last game due to suspension and his absence was heavily felt when his team lost 2-1 to Baroka FC. However, he is likely to make a return to the squad tonight.

In their last meeting in April, Billiat went on target when he opened the scoring but his team eventually lost 2-1. Katsande also played that game with another Zimbabwean Edmore Chirambadare coming in as a substitute. Chirambadare might play tonight but he is likely to come in as a substitute again.

Khama will not be riding alone as Cuthbert Malajila will be by his side. Malajila made his first appearance this season in the team’s last league game when he came in as a replacement. He had some decent time on the field and his effort was cleared off the line by Platinum Stars defense.

Meanwhile, Chiefs defender Teenage Hadabe could have been part of this face-off but he is still out with an ankle injury.

On Wednesday Polokwane City’s Walter Musona and George Chigova will face off with Amazulu’s Butholezwe Ncube and Ovidy Karuru.

The Zimbabwean contingent at Golden Arrows will play Talent Chawapiwa’s Baroka FC.

It’s still unclear if Chawapiwa will be fit for the clash after he has been out of action for some time due to injury. Arrows’ Danny Phiri is still out with an injury but the likes of Kuda Mahachi, Knox Mutizwa and newly signed Thomas Chideu will be available for selection.

Elsewhere, Tatenda Mukuruva who is yet to play a match this season will see his Cape Town City play at home against Ronald Pfumbidzai’s Bloemfontein Celtic. Pfumbidzai has been in top form, and he is now a regular in the first XI since he joined the club in August.
