Lack of resources hindering the appointment of Warriors coach: ZIFA

The Zimbabwe Football Association is delaying to appoint a national team substantive coach due to lack of financial resources.

ZIFA vice-president Omega Sibanda told to the Herald that at the moment they will appoint an interim coach that will take charge of next month’s games.

“Resources have been a major constraint but we really have to get a substantive coach for the Warriors now. I think by the time we resume our AFCON campaign in March we would be doing so under a substantive coach,” said  Sibanda.

“We are meeting as an executive on Friday and we are going to discuss the issue of the Warriors coach among other items that are on the agenda of that meeting. The friendly matches that are coming up next month we would also have to work with an interim coach and we will decide who will be given which assignments.”

Sunday Chidzambwa and Norman Mapeza have took charge of national team assignments on interim basis since February when Kalisto Pasuwa step down. The Warriors will play two friendly matches during November international break before they travel to Kenya for CECAFA tournament.
