Mpofu happy with derby win

Bulawayo City coach Mandla Mpofu is happy with the win over How Mine in a Derby played at Luveve Stadium on Wednesday.

Amakhosi beat their rivals 2-1 courtesy of goals from Newman Sianchali and Ishmael Wadi scored in the first half while How Mine’s consolation came from Marvelous Mukumba.

“We needed the three points and I am glad we got them in derby match.  We need to win all the remaining games to ease our relegation worries. Also, we dedicate the win to our injured captain Zibusiso Sibanda.,” said Mpofu.

City are now four points clear above the relegation zone. They sit on 12th position on the league table.

Meanwhile How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu admitted his team paid the price for the mistakes they made during the game.

“We paid for the mistakes we made in the first half but I think we came back from the break more determined. We rested some of our regular players and I think Bulawayo City took advantage of that,” said Kaindu.

Milton Ncube, Kuda Musharu and Peter “Rio” Moyo were some of the players that did not play as they are reserved for the Chibuku Cup semi-final tie on Sunday.
