Lack of game time at Chiefs blew up my confidence: Karuru

Ovidy Kararu says his confidence blew up during his time at Kaizer Chiefs due to lack of game time.

Karuru left the Soweto giants in 2016 to join Amazulu after making only five league appearances in two seasons.

“The games I managed to play at Chiefs are either cup games or I came in as a substitute. I never started a league game at Chiefs. That thing blew my confidence away. But if I got a chance to play, I am sure we would be talking a different story now. There are no hard feelings, it happens in football,” said Karuru in an interview with KickOff.

“You gain confidence when you are playing. If you are not playing, you lose confidence. You’ll ask yourself what are you doing wrong. But if you play one, two or three games … if you fail then you have no one to blame.”

The Zimbabwean attacker is enjoying game time at his new home, Amazulu and he has made four league appearances this season. He was out of action due to injury and he is expected to to return at the time his team clash against Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout.
