Morocco’s Wydad reach CAF Champions League final

Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca sealed qualification for the CAF Champions League final with an aggregate 3-1 victory over Algeria’s U.S.M Alger following a thrilling return-leg in Casablanca.

After a goalless draw in Algeria, Wydad managed to settle the tie at home, with Walid El-Karti giving the Moroccans a 26 th -minute lead before Achraf Bencharki doubled his side’s advantage nine minutes after the break.

Ayoub Abdellaoui gave USM hope when he scored in the 67 th minute, as the Algerians needed a goal now to qualify on the away-goal rule.

Bencharki, however, killed USM’s hopes with a last-gasp strike from inside the area in the third minute of stoppage time to ensure his side booked a final berth.

Wydad now await the winner from the match between Ahly and Etoile du Sahel, with the first leg ending with a 2-1 victory for the Tunisians in Sousse.
