Report: Harare City, How Mine set up Chibuku Super Cup final clash

Harare City thrust themselves in line to clinch the Chibuku Super Cup for the second time after they edged Bulawayo City 1-0 in a semi final match played at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

The Sunshine Boys will meet How Mine in the final after How Mine beat Shabanie Mine 3-1 in the second semi final clash.

There were two changes in the Harare City squad from a team which lost in the mid-week league fixtures. Pritchard Mpelele and Jimmy Tigere returned to the first XI while Hastings Chapusha and Welcome Ndiweni were on the bench.

Harare City’s Martin Vengesayi found the back of the net towards the half hour mark when Bulawayo City back line were caught napping. With little determination, Amakhosi failed to find an equaliser as the Harare side seemed relaxed with their one goal cushion.

The match ended 1-0 with coach Philani Ncube masterminding the demise of his former pay masters.

In the other semi final match played at the same venue, Tinashe Makanda scored a brace while Kuda Musharu had another one on the tally in How Mine’s 3-1 victory over Shabanie Mine.

Musharu opened the scoring in the 1st minute to give his team an early lead before Makanda struck home from a close range just over the hour mark. Makanda completed his brace ten minutes later which sealed their 2017 Chibuku Super Cup Finals berth.

Meanwhile, Bruno Mtigo scored the consolation for the Chinda Boys in the 89th minute.

The final will be played in November and it will be Harare City’s third appearance in the round.
