S.A based Zim players round-up

Two Zimbabweans in the ABSA Premiership were on fire during the weekend’s league action.

Golden Arrows duo, Thomas Chideu and Knox Mutizwa helped their team to maintain an unbeaten start to this season when they scored in the 2-2 draw against Polokwane City on Saturday. Mutizwa scored in the 12th minute before Chideu equalized in the last minute of the game.

Chideu’s first goal of the season came on his debut for Golden Arrows. He came in as a substitute in 75th minute.

Kudakwashe Mahachi was also part of  Arrows’ squad and played the whole match.

Polokwane goalkeeper George Chigova returned to action from injury and was in the first eleven. Though he failed to keep a clean sheet, he made some decent saves especially in the first half. Team mate Walter Musona started the game but was substituted in the 64th minute.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Willard Katsande featured in the Soweto Derby on Saturday. Katsande started the game at his usual midfield position but later shifted to defense in the last quarter of the game when defender Siyabonga Ngezama was substituted.

Edmore Chirambadare was an unused substitute for Chiefs.

Khama Billiat did not play in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 2-1 home loss to AmaZulu after he picked up a knock before the game. Cuthbert Malajila was also out due to a knee injury while Usuthu’s Butholezwe Ncube was not part of the playing squad.

Talent Chawapiwa returned to action from injury when he played in Baroka FC’s 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits. He was later substituted in the 77th minute.

Bloemfontein Celtic defender Ronald Pfumbidzai continued with his fine form at the club despite his team losing 2-1 to Ajax Cape Town over the weekend. Meanwhile Evans Rusike’s Maritzburg United was not in action during the weekend.
