CAF sets date for African Champions League final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) set Saturday as the date for the first leg of a mouthwatering Champions League final between Egypt’s Ahly and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.

According to Ahly’s official website, the match will be played on Saturday 28 October at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab stadium; one day earlier of the previously requested date by the Cairo giants.

The Moroccan team is yet to determine the date of the return leg that is supposed to be played in Casablanca on 3, 4 or 5 November.

Ahly hold the record for Champions League trophies, having won eight times. They sealed their place in the final with a 7-4 win on aggregate over Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel.
