Football fans have voiced their outrage at the rumored decision by ZIFA to appoint Mark Harrison as the Warriors’ substantive coach.

There was a report on Tuesday which suggested that ZIFA is considering Harrison to become the national team’s coach. Local football followers were not impressed with the news, taking to social media to let their feelings known, believing that Norman Mapeza or Sunday Chidzambwa should get the job instead.

Harrison is currently the technical director of football at Harare City. He once coached CAPS United in 2015 before he quit after only 13 matches in charge.

Soccer24 has been following some of the fans’ reaction to the development and here is what they said:

Joe Stha Mutsa: These guys, the next thing they take you to FIFA for not paying their salaries then you will be banned for life. Remember we are not in the world cup because of this nonsense.

Hlangano Ngwenya: mmmmm lets be serious gentlemen, you want to start that Valinhos thing again, what’s wrong with Mapeza, Sunday, Pasuwa or any other local coach? you want to hire money mongers who vanishes at the eleventh hour.Hameno ikoko mina zwiii.

Thomas Gift Munyafe: When we are planning about this Hiring of coaches we need to dig deep into our reasoning Zifa guys.First and foremost does our resources permit us to these heavy contracts which are normally tabled and allowed into our national files? Basic costing tells us all that it’s mission impossible. Why are u Zifa guys trying the impossible? You hire someone when u are quite aware that funding his packaging is going to be a nightmare.Wake up you guys who are steering the ship into the usual trap.Tired of being driven into this circus.

Parah Gurupirah: We were banned to compete at world cup games because of these so called foreign coaches,so why are we hiring them when we cannot afford them. Mapeza is the right man for the job.

Michael Leahkim Mamhiyo: This is exactly the reason why as a country we wont go anywhere. If they dump Mapeza us as warriors fans we should stop going to national team games.

Rabson Mwale: Do they have money to pay him we are not playing in the world cup qualifier because of not paying the foreign coaches.

Hilary Henriette Lindsay: Hey, has Zifa forgotten that Harrison is Mr hop, skip and jump himself!

However not everyone was angry with the news. A few people think the Briton can still deliver good results when he gets the job.

Bernard Chitema said: I give him a benefit of doubt, was charmed by his short term CAPS project

Nkosilathi Roccaboy Siziba: Good move Harrison is a good coach

The national football mother board has failed to appoint a substantive coach since Kalisto Pasuwa left the post in February. Sunday Chidzambwa and Nomarn Mapeza have took charge on interim basis. The Warriors have a busy schedule in November and it still remains unknown who will take charge of the assignments.
