Report: Harare City, FC Platinum in stalemate

FC Platinum dropped two crucial points that could have been vital in their title chase after they were held to a goalless draw by relegation threatened Harare City at Rufaro Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The visitors created several chances inside the opening minutes but failed to sent one on target. They dominated position, making some great inter-plays in the following moments. The Sunshine Boys only got in to the game towards the half hour mark when they started retaining some position.

However, FC Platinum continued controlling things but no meaningful attempt on goal was made.  Attacking midfielder Ali Sadiki was introduced to the game three minutes before half time when he came in for Hillary Bakacheza.

The teams went to half time tied on deadlock.

The second half resumed with Harare City regrouped and making some counter attacks which were a threat to their visitors at some point. Malvin Gaki had a chance in the 79th minute but his powerful strike was brilliantly saved by the goalkeeper.

Pure Platinum Play were soon presented with a chance but Mukhokeli Dube’s strike was denied by the woodwork. They survived a quick response by City which saw goalkeeper Magalane being forced in to a save.

With the clock ticking away, FC Platinum found themselves wanting as the Sunshine Boys kept holding on.

No further chances were created and the game ended in a goalless draw.

FC Platinum are now two points clear on top while Harare City move one place up to 12th position with 35 points.

Meanwhile, Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum now have a chance to go on top of the table on Saturday afternoon. The two teams clash against each other in a fixture scheduled for 2pm.
