Highlanders returned to winning ways when they beat Black Rhinos 2-0 in a match played at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Goals from Peter Muduhwa and King Nadolo gave the hosts the much needed three points after they were humiliated in Harare last Thursday.
Rhinos set the pace in the opening ten minutes when Lot Chiunga was denied twice by the goalkeeper Nedrick Mudeya. The home team soon settled and their first real chance came in the 24th minute but the effort went an inch wide. A glorious chance came on their way ten minutes later but Gabriel Nyoni miscued his effort from a close range.
The teams went to half time tied on the deadlock.
With the second resuming and both teams still trying to find the ground, Peter Muduhwa ghosted from nowhere and found the back of the net to sent Tshilamoya in to the lead in the 50th minute.
Tambwe Kalunga’s beautiful header in the 66th minute was ruled offside. However King Nadolo doubled the lead in the 84th minute when he headed home Ray Lunga’s cross with his first touch after being introduced as a substitute.
Nadolo’s goal proved to be the last highlight of the game as it ended 2-0 in favour of Bosso.
In Harare, CAPS United played to a 1-1 draw against Hwange.
The result was not what Chipangano wanted in order to move out of relegation zone. They grabbed the lead in the 76th minute through Derick Murimba when he capitalised on a defensive blunder by the home team’s back line. The advantage short-lived as John Zhuwawo equalised three minutes later after Devon Chafa had set him up.
The result means the Green Machine have stretched their unbeaten run to ten matches while Hwange only gained a point on the log standings.
Shabanie Mine and Triangle finished their encounter in 1-1 stalemate.
The game created few chances in the first half. Nonetheless, as the teams resumed the second half, Bruno Mtigo opened the scoring in the 53rd minute with a long range effort.
The match looked like it was heading in favour of the Chinda Boys but Lameck Nhamo’s rebound in the 89th minute squized a precious away point for Triangle.

Meanwhile the match between relegation threatened Tsholotsho and the already relegated Bantu Rovers ended in a 2-1 victory for Tsholotsho. The win brought some little relief for Izoqholo Zezhwane who are placed second from bottom on the league table.
