Under 20 trials to start today

The Under 20 trials which failed to kick off on Monday, are expected to start today with Young Warriors coach Bekithemba Ndlovu assessing players at Barbourfields Stadium this morning.

The trials are aimed on building a squad which will participate at COSAFA Under-20 Championships that will be staged in Zambia from December 6-16. According to NewsDay, few players turned up on Monday due to late communication to the clubs.

Ndlovu said the players will come for assessment and those who stand a chance will be selected.

“I already have players in mind for the squad, but there are some others out there who need to be given a chance. If a player is good you can identify them in just one session and I will be doing that then next week its serious business,” said the coach.

Mike Madzivanyika and Mark Mathe who are assistants to Ndlovu will carry out the trails in Harare.

Meanwhile Ndlovu said the trails will only be held in Harare and Bulawayo only due to limited time.

“There are some upcoming tournaments for the Under-20s and we will travel to other provinces, but for now time is not on our side.”
