The destiny of the title is Chicken Inn’s hands says coach Gumbo

Chicken Inn Football Club, otherwise known as the Game Cocks drew 1-1 with ZPC Kariba in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (CLPSL) on Sunday.

In spite the draw, Chicken Inn remains within touching distance with 56 points from 30 games, four points adrift of Ngezi Platinum who leads the log with 60 points from the same number of matches.

If the Chicken Inn boys had won their match, they would have narrowed the gap of the lead between them and the Platinum miners to two points.

Gumbo stressed the need for Chicken Inn to win their remaining fixtures emphasizing on matches against title rivals Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum.

The Game Cocks square off against relegation bound Tsholotsho in what Gumbo has dubbed a must win.

Speaking to the Chronicle Coach Rahman Gumbo, however, said that he believed the CLPSL title race was still open and it is within their hands to win it or to let go.

“This is a tricky game, but we don’t have any option other than to pick up maximum points so that we reduce the gap to just a point as we wait for Sunday’s results. We have to do the job for ourselves by winning our games and avoid focusing on how other teams play. Remember we still have to play Ngezi and Dynamos, meaning the destiny of the championship is in our hands and we just have to do the job ourselves and not rely on anyone,” Gumbo said.
