We Are Still Believing: Mapeza

Norman Mapeza says he still believes they can win the championship after his team produced a scintillating performance in their 3-0 annihilation of ZPC Kariba in a league match played at Mandava stadium.

FC Platinum made their intentions known as early as the sixth minute when Charles Sibanda poked home his side’s first goal before Mkhokheli Dube doubled the lead in the 35th minute and Sibanda completed his brace with a fantastic freekick two minutes before half time. With the 3 goals in the first half  the match was as good as being over.

Since their promotion in to the premier league in 2011 Pure Platinum Play have failed to win the league but only managed to finish as runners up. However Mapeza believes it can be done now.

“Yes, we still believe it can be done but we need to continue working hard. So the most important thing for us  to do is keep believing,” said the optimistic Platinum coach.

With the famous victory, the Zvishavane side are on top at least for now as second placed Ngezi Platinum will play this afternoon. Ngezi are three points behind FC Platinum but they can reclaim the top post with a victory over Bantu Rovers on Sunday due to superior goal difference.

As for Mapeza he says he doesn’t worry much on what happens to Ngezi as his main focus was on their tie against ZPC.

“The most important thing for us is that we won our game against Kariba. We need to focus on our matches, if tonight we go to sleep saying we are now at the top and we are done, we will be fooling ourselves. Its still game on. We have 3 massive games coming, we just need to concentrate on our games not on other teams ,” added Mapeza.
