S.A based Zim players round-up

Not so many Zimbabweans were involved in action in South Africa over the weekend due to the Telkom Knockout quarter finals which were taking place.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Willard Katsande featured in his team’s 1-0 victory over Chippa United on Sunday. He had a decent game and his contribution in the midfield was significant. His hard tackles saw him giving away three free-kicks in the first half. However, he picked a minor knock on the way but he managed to finish the game.

Team-mate, Edmore Chirambadare did not play.

On Saturday, Polokwane City goalkeeper George Chigova was stretched off in the 34th minute in his team’s victory over Orlando Pirates. Chigova sustained an injury during a penalty save. Earlier on, he conceded a goal in the 13th minute which leveled matters after his team took an early lead. Nonetheless, City went on to win the match 4-2 on penalties.

Walter Musona was not part of Polokwane squad as he is still recovering from injury.

Talent Chawapiwa played the whole ninety minutes in his team’s 1-0 loss to Bidvest Wits. The attacking midfielder was in fine form and made some good runs on the left flank. He got few chances in the late stages of the game including a low drive which was saved by the keeper.

Meanwhile Ronald Pfumbidzai received a yellow card in Bloemfontein Celtic’s 2-1 victory over Platinum Stars. The tall left back was cautioned in the 22nd minute. Despite the yellow card, he managed to maintain his tempo for the remainder of the game.
