I’m Here To Win: Darikwa

Tendayi Darikwa has declared that he is here to win with the Warriors after finally answering a call up to represent Zimbabwe.

Born in England but to parents of Zimbabwean origin, Darikwa could have made his switch to Zimbabwe way back in 2010 but was frustrated by some elements at the then Zifa executive which wanted to extort money from him.

The Nottingham Forest defender touched down at the Harare International Airport on Monday afternoon together with Admiral Muskwe of Leicester City academy and Macauley Bonne of Leyton Orient.

“I am here to win. I want to win, I want to help the Warriors qualify for the African cup of nations. I have been following Zimbabwean football and I am impressed with the quality, I saw them at the past African cup of nations,” said Darikwa.

“Of course I was born in England but my blood is Zimbabwean and I am here to represent my country to the best of my ability. I want to achieve things with the Warriors,”.

The trio together with Kundai Benyu of Celtics in Scotland will feature for the Zimbabwe senior national team for the first time on Wednesday night against Lesotho in Maseru in an international friendly match. The Warriors will then take on Namibia in Windhoek on Saturday. Bonne featured once for the Zimbabwe U23 against Morocco in 2014, scoring a goal on his debut match.

The Warriors are due in action for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers when they travel to Congo Brazzaville for a date against the hosts on 23 rd of March next year.
