Zvishavane community rally behind FC Platinum

The Zvishavane community believe this could be the year FC Platinum are going to lift the league title for the first time ever after a six year search.

The Platinum miners who were promoted into the premiership in 2011 went closest to receiving the gong in their debut year but were unfortunate to  lose it by goal difference to the eventual winners Dynamos. Again last season they lost it to Caps United by a two point difference but this year some football followers are tipping the Pure Platinum Play to win it.

The only club to win the league outside of Harare and Bulawayo was St Paul Musami 51 years ago and no club has repeated that feat.

However FC Platinum and Ngezi platinum Stars are at the cusp of doing it.

The two sides are tied on 63 points but Ngezi are on top due to an inferior goal difference. Dynamos, a Harare based side which also have a pedigree of winning the championship are only two points behind the duo with three games left to play. Chicken Inn of Bulawayo are not far away and can win the league if the top three stumble on the way.

Soccer24 caught up with Chief Mazvihwa’s son Tinaye Jumo and he believes FC Platinum will make Zvishavane proud by lifting the league trophy. Jumo also urged the

“We must continue to rally behind FC Platinum, this is their year from the way I look at it. The players must remain focused and unity of purpose will propel us to the desired goal. I also hope that Shabanie Mine will avoid relegation and remain in the league. The community is rallying behind these two sides and good luck to them,” said Jumo.

Last season FC Platinum with seven games to play, dropped two crucial points when they were held to a goalless draw by Boarder Strikers in Beitbridge.

They will travel to Beitbridge again this time to face off against an already relegated Tsholotsho in the mid week fixtures.
