Reliving the 2015 CSC Final: Dynamos vs Harare City

October 31, 2015 remains one of the greatest moments in the history of Harare City FC.

On a Saturday afternoon at National Sports Stadium, the Sunshine Boys stunned giants Dynamos to win the 2015 Chibuku Super Cup.  Francesco Zikumbawire struck home in the 17th minute before William Manondo doubled the lead in the 83rd minute. Dynamos’ Richard Kawondera scored a late consolation in a pulsating final.

This was Harare City’s first major trophy since their promotion in to the top flight league at the end of the 2011 season.

However, Dynamos were favourites to win the cup considering their squad which had the likes of Takesure Chinyama, Ocean Mushure, Rodreck Mutuma and Ronald Chitiyo. On the other hand, City had former Dembare sons David Kutyauripo and Martin Vengesai. Zikumbawire, an ex Dynamos loanee, was part of the City’s squad which was not as strong as that of their opponents.

The Sunshine Boys had missed the trophy a year before when they lost to FC Platinum and memories of that heartbreaking loss was still in their minds. Taurai Mangwiro was the City’s coach while Tonderayi Ndiraya was the man in charge of the Glamour Boys

A win on the day was going to guarantee  Ndiraya a long term contract at the Harare Giants. Sadly, it didn’t work according to plan and the defeat stretched his winless run to three matches.

Meanwhile, Harare City will play in their third Chibuku Super Cup final tomorrow against How Mine at Rufaro Stadium. Should they win tomorrow, they become the most successful team in the history of the Cup.

The kick off time is 3pm.
