Report: Zim, Barca Legends play to a 2-2 draw

Warriors Legends and Barcelona Legends played to a 2-2 draw in an exciting encounter which saw yesteryear football stars coming together to put an entertaining 90 minutes in front of packed  National Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The first half wasn’t thrilling but the likes of captain Patrick Kluivert, Edgar Davies and Tinashe Nengomasha did not disappoint.

Kluivert set the pace as early as in 6th minute when  he headed home Davies’ cross to give the visitors an early lead. The skipper doubled the lead four minutes later with another header.

The Warriors Legends picked up momentum towards the 20th minute mark when Madinda Ndlovu sent his effort over the bar after a great interplay. Kluivert had another chance moments later but he went off target.

The Warriors Legends finished the first half with no attempt on target.

However a new look team in the second half brought some live in the Warriors team with Johannes Ngodzo denied by the woodwork 8 minutes in to the game. It was not going to be long when Zenzo Moyo’s stunning overhead found the net.

There were joyous shouts from the crowd when Prophet Walter Magaya was introduced in the 79th minute. The man of God didn’t disappoint as he made some good runs up front.

The Warriors equalised in the 83rd minute when Edward Sadomba’s strike beat the goalkeeper.

The entertaining second half came to an end with both sides tied on a 2-2 draw.
