‘ZIFA to blame for Warriors defeats’

Local football followers have blamed Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) after the Warriors succumbed to two defeats in three days.

Football fans were not happy with Warriors’ performances in both matches against Lesotho and Namibia, saying the football motherboard was supposed to appoint a better coach. Little known Wilson Mutekede was tasked to take charge of the two assignments and he failed horribly.

The latest defeat to Namibia has left fans questioning ZIFA’s commitment for the national team.

Soccer24 has been following the fans’ reaction and here is what they said.

Ashley Ashly: Two games two defeats from least football nations. Lets not be shocked to be the last on the coming world rankings. Zifa be serious with our national team plz. Mutekede is not a coach. Ndoro and Dauda must be banned from national duties. Mapeza, Pasuwa and Sunday. Thank you.

Similo Skhos Ncube: Where did Zifa get this guy from, from where i stand i hv never heard such a name in Zim football history.. only well known former players and coaches deserve that post,… not the unknowns.

Dee Ducko Cummings: In the whole scheme of things, who on earth is mutekede and how did he get such a position? Considering the players they called into camp, Zifa put this plumber to run our beloved team.

Mthokozisi Mthokzen Ndlovu: This ZIFA is just useless, what they know best is changing of coaches each and every time. They don’t give a coach time to get used to his players, sharpen his team and fulfill his vision . They just believe in changing coaches again and again, sometimes having three coaches at the same time…. Mnxm. By the way who is Mutekede in Zim football? Pasuwa tried his best, but before he could even go far with his team he was fired . This time we are moving down to the bottom of the FIFA rankings and it’s a disappointment to our nation.

There was no sympathy for ZIFA and Mutekede and the fans attacked them from all corners. Some followers asked why ZIFA appointed someone with no traceable history and adequate experience.

Pride Sinyoraido said: I wonder y Zifa appoint pipo wasina kana history akabva kupiko uyu nhai plus giv veterans chance at least 5 years.

Robert M Kuhlengisa added: Utter nonsense ZIFA is dead hw can thy humiliate th whole nation by bringing ths mutekede he has no achivment at all kuita mbiri yekudyiwa(beaten run) by small nations in football, wake up ZIFA ths z nt a club.

Everyone is now curious to know ZIFA’s next move ahead of the CECAFA tournament. Zimbabwe was invited to take part in this year’s edition which starts on 25 November.
