Mapeza reveals why he didn’t play in Legends’ Match

Norman Mapeza has revealed why he missed the exhibition match between Warriors Legends and Barcelona Legends played on Sunday.

Mapeza was part of the squad announced by ZIFA to face the tourists together with other 32 yesteryear football stars.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday ahead of their league match on Wednesday, the 45 year old said he failed to travel to Harare for the match due to a lower back pain.

“I have a lower back pain which has been troubling me for the past five months. If you noticed in our last game against ZPC Kariba, i was having problems standing up straight and that’s why i didn’t travel,” said the FC Platinum coach.

“I spoke to Mhofu (Sunday Chidzambwa) before the game and he understood. I think it was a big occasion for my former teammates to play those guys from Barcelona.”

The Warriors Legends and Barcelona Legends played to a thrilling 2-2 draw in front of a packed National Sports Stadium. The likes of Moses Chunga, Madinda Ndlovu, Peter Ndlovu, Brenna Msika and Kalisto Pasuwa all featured against former Barcelona players.
