Harare City’s Philani Ncube believes relegation fight could go to last game

The battle to avoid relegation from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League is likely to go down to the final game of the season, Harare City Philani Ncube has said after his club were beaten one nil by fellow strugglers Black Rhinos on Wednesday.

Harare City are one point and one place above the drop zone, with Bulawayo City, Hwange, Tsholotsho and Bantu Rovers occupying the bottom four spots.

Speaking to the Chronicle after the match, Ncube acknowledged his team need to focus harder if they need to survive without just two games remaining.

“We are going back to the drawing board and try and rectify where we went wrong. But well one thing for sure the game against How Mine, it takes a lot of energy as far as players are concerned.

“We will fight until the end. We still have got two games to play…we have no choice now we need to put our act together and get enough rest and go and fight.

“We go and get a point in Hwange and then we make sure we beat How Mine at home, we are home and dry. It is unfortunate in situations like this it’s the coach’s head but well I am used, I will never go under pressure it is one of the results as far as football is concerned,” said Ncube.

Harare City are coming from a successful hunt of the Chibuku Super Cup which they clinched over the weekend beating How Mine 3-1.
