Rutendo Makore to be loaned to a Spanish Club

Zimbabwe women’s striker Rutendo Makore is on the brink of becoming the first Zimbabwean to play professional football in Europe after it has emerged she is set to sign a 6 month loan contract with a Spanish top flight side Sporting Club de Heulva.. The new deal is set to keep Makore at the Spanish club  until June 2018.

The deal between Black Rhinos and the Spanish Club will be upgraded to permanent if the Striker impresses. Makore was identified during the Cosafa women’s championship which was hosted in Bulawayo earlier in the year.

The forward was especially crucial in the 2017 COSAFA Women Championships, having helped Zimbabwe reach the finals where they eventually lost to South Africa, with Makore finishing that campaign as the team’s top scorer.

Speaking to ZBC Sport, Makore said she was pleased with the deal and says it will be great to realised has life long dream of playing in Europe “I am very happy to have signed my contract with the club. It has always been my dream to play in Europe”
