Chapungu Targets Top 8 Finish

Chapungu coach Tendai Chikuni insists there is still a lot to play for on their part when they host  FC Platinum in what could be the decider of the league destiny on Saturday.

Chikuni says the club is looking forward to finishing among the top eight teams in the league.

“We are just a point behind Black Rhinos who are on eighth position so we want to win this match so that we leapfrog them, hoping that they also drop points against Tsholotsho,” said Chikuni.

The Chapungu coach also shot back at critics who are already insinuating that the Airforce side will not give their best shot against fellow Midlands side and aide them to become the first club outside Harare and Bulawayo to win the league title.

“ All what people are saying is nonsense because we have a lot to play for. We might have connections with FC Platinum but every coach here in Zimbabwe is connected to some club somehow, so why should it be an issue when it comes to Chapungu.”

Chikuni was once an employee at FC Platinum serving at both the senior team and the juniors while his technical director Rodwell Dhlakama was Norman Mapeza’s assistant at Monomotapa.

Chapungu will be missing two key players captain Collen Kwaramba and lively winger Ian Nyoni through suspension.
