Preview: CLPSL Match-day 34

The curtain comes down on the 2017 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this afternoon when the destiny of the league title will be decided.

It was an eventful season which saw 18 teams participating in the campaign for the first time in the history of PSL. Only two teams – Dynamos and FC Platinum- are still in the title race while the relegation battle will reach its end when two other teams join already relegated Bantu Rovers and Tsholotsho.

FC Platinum are on the verge of becoming the first team based outside Harare or Bulawayo to win the league since 1966. They play away to Chapungu at Ascot Stadium.

The Pure Platinum Play only need a victory of any margin to win their first championship but it will not come easy after Chapungu promised to give their best shot in the game. The Air Force side are still to beat FC Platinum in the league. The last time the two teams played at at Ascot Stadium, it finished 2-0 in favour of FC Platinum.

The hosts will be without their captain Collen Kwaramba  and influential winger Ian Nyoni due to suspension.

The match will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

Meanwhile, Dynamos who are two points behind are praying for a miracle when they face Chicken Inn at National Sports Stadium.

The Glamour Boys could be crowned champions if they manage to beat The Gamecocks while FC Platinum drop points.

The tie between the two teams have been dominated by draws but it is Chicken Inn who have a slight upper hand in head to head statistics. The Bulawayo side have four wins and three losses from 13 league encounters.

Collins Dhuwa is not available for the selection for the visitors.

On the bottom end, Harare City and Buluwayo City are hoping to to survive relegation when they play How Mine and Bantu Rovers respectively.

The Sunshine Boys are sitting on 16th position with 35 points while Amakhosi is one place above with 36 points. Its a must win situation for both teams.

Shabanie Mine and Hwange who are not far from relegation zone want nothing short of three points in their games.

Chipangano face ZPC Kariba away at Nyamhunga Stadium. Shabanie Mine, on the other hand, host Yadah FC at Maglas.

Elsewhere, rivalry will be renewed in the Battle of the Cities when Highlanders welcome CAPS United at Barbourfileds while Tsholotsho play at home to Black Rhinos. Ngezi Platinum Stars wrap up their season with a home clash against Triangle.
