Mazembe Retains CAF Confederation Cup

TP Mazembe have been crowned CAF Confederation Cup champions following a goalless draw with South Africa’s Supersport in the competition’s final return leg in Pretoria on Saturday.

A physical game that witnessed two red cards that have seen both sides being reduced to 10 men in the second half, it was the Congolese side who eventually managed to win the final with an aggregate 2-1 victory.

Goals from Adama Traore and Daniel Adjei Nii, either side of a Sipho Mbule strike, in the first leg eventually proved crucial for Mazembe to win their second Confederation Cup title in their history.

They will now meet Champions League winners Morocco’s Wydad for the Super Cup – set to take place in February 2018.
