FC Platinum Confirm Champions League Participation

FC Platinum wasted no time in confirming their participation in the CAF African champions league next year moments after being crowned Zimbabwean champions on Saturday.

An ecstatic club chairman Evans Mthombeni said the club will cut short their celebrations and start preparations for the premier continental club competition whose registration closes in less than a month.

“Let me take this opportunity to confirm that as FC Platinum we are going to participate in the African champions league. We were there in 2012  and bowed out before reaching the knock out stages. We would like to do better this time around,” said Mthombeni.

“We are just waiting to hear from the coaches which players they want. Obviously we are going to retain the bulk of our players but we  are also going to bring new players who we believe will add more value to the team. We are even prepared to have the players from outside the country as long as our technical department has shown interest. I would also want to dedicate this title and participation in the champions league to our fans who showed so much tremendous support despite us not doing well in some seasons. They deserve this.”

Relegated Harare City are the other club who have expressed willingness to participate in the African safari after winning the Chibuku Super Cup early this month.
