Hwange FC president Thomas Makore bemoaned the teams’ relegation from top flight football but believes relegated Hwange will do their best ensure a rapid return to the Castle Lager Premiership.

Chipangano exited the top flight on Saturday after they were beaten 2-0 at home by ZPC Kariba. It was a result that would have been good enough to keep them in the league until Bulawayo City won 5 nil against Bantu Rovers with Newman Sinchali rampant scoring 4 goals.

Hwange finished their league campaign in 15th spot, two points behind Bulawayo City, bringing to an end of their nine stay in the top flight.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Club President Thomas Makore says he regretted the team’s demotion, but made an undertaking that the Hwange football brand would never die.

“It’s sad that the team got relegated, but in my opinion they tried their level best although it was not to be. As a company, we will do everything within our powers to ensure that the team quickly bounces back to the topflight league,” said Makore.

“If you are in a contest and you lose, you don’t give up, but rather you work on some remedies and come back a stronger unit, so I am assuring the local community that we will preserve the Hwange football brand which has been in existence for decades,” he said.
